A beautiful piece of fabric, textile that could be turned into pillows, a wall hanging or a table runner. Made from 3 1/3” wide handwoven panels, hand sewn together creating a sort of subtle plaid motif with muted putty or brownish grey with pink and off white lines.
Based on the gorgeous stripwoven construction and overall feel, this textile is attributed to West Africa and possibly Mali, where narrow-strip weaving traditions have a long and celebrated history. It isn’t the loud, touristy version of African textiles you see everywhere.
Its not new and has some damage on the edges, but does not impact the possibilities of what can be created from this unique piece!
