I found this piece in a backyard of an estate sale a short time ago. It hung on a wooden hanger on a low hanging branch from a dilapidated old tree. It looked so forlorn.
I circled back and stared at it. The raffia embroidery was exquisite, beautifully placed on the right side of a hemp two piece skirt and top. How strange? Why? When? The skirt and top is handwoven hemp which is so peculiar in of itself. Who went to all the labor of embroidering this on something that would detiriate so quickly? None of these questions will ever be answered although I have my suspicions.
I made it into a piece of art. Perfect for a bedroom or bathroom or living room.
