Hector Aguilar is considered one of the “masters” of silversmithing in Mexico. Aguilar’s mentor was William Spratling and he soon ventured out to begin his own workshop in 1939. Aguilar created many iconic pieces that often explored pre-Columbian motifs although he often explored and combined the past with the modern designs.
During the peak of jewelry production in Taxco, in the state of of Guerrero, the artists were creating and thriving. As a result the value lies not just in the metal but in the artistry and history it embodies.
This sumptuous, statement piece is not for the faint at heart. It’s substantial, weighing in at 97.5 grams! differently! With a cloth tape it measures 8” long locked with its pin. It measures 7 3/4” unhinged?And has the traditonal chain and pin for extra security.
