Vintage Mexican Clay Village Scene from Ocumicho
Vintage Mexican Clay Village Scene from Ocumicho
A whimsical piece of Mexican folk art. Handcrafted and, of course hand painted, by an unknown artist in Ocumicho, Mexico. Delicate yet hardy these wonderful pieces of irony, whimsy and fantasy are hauntingly beautiful and becoming rarer and rarer, in part because they can break so easily.
Traditionally from the community of Ocumicho in Mexico
The shadow of the purepechas - written actually in Spanish, “la simbra de los purepechas”in a rough, simplistic font at the front bottom of this extraordinary piece.
The clay diorama of a Mexican village scene is delicate. I’ve had a few of these and they are very precarious to pack and ship. Packed tightly in two boxes and shipped via Fed Ex will hopefully insure it’s safe arrival. The USPS relies on machines therefore guarantees unsafe passage.
13 1/2" Total height.
11" in height to the top of the flowers on the right.
12 1/2" wide.
8 " in depth.
