It’s difficult to say what captivates my heart when hunting and gathering for art, especially folk art. Originally, I thought this piece was certainly vintage if not antique. I was wrong. Never the less, I was intrigued by the scene within the watermelon, two people in a field, one resting by haystacks while the other bent down, picking watermelons. I've often collected watermelon paintings and was considering keeping this one but I cannot keep everything, can I? I say this more often than I care to!
This painting came from a collection of folk art. There is no signature to reveal who the artist was. As to when it was first painted? Your guess is as good as mine! Please look carefully within the watermelon. Magic!
In excellent condition, although the frame has a few barely visible scratches.
