This is a stunning example of atonal mid century painting by the artist Ardiss. Most of his work is gothic, troubled landscapes, perhaps a metaphor for the artists psyche.
Ardiss was from eastern North Africa and immigrated to France to continue his artistic pursuits during the 1940s. An artistic who had a prolific output, his work can easily be found through the internet.
