A stunning, hand carved Chinese cedar chest perfect for storing blankets, linen or woolens of any kind. I was told that this piece came to the United States via a young Chinese bride, a hope chest. Her grandson remembers it always being in the house that he grew up in. The hand carved relief features remarkable scenes of folks, birds, wisemen and palace scenes. It's pretty solid, with craftsmanship that speaks. The back legs have barely legible water stains. It doesn't seem to have affected the chest whatsoever.
Measurements are 39 3/4” wide by 21” high by 20 2/4” in depth.
