Vintage Tibetan Coral and Turquoise Brass Clip-On Earrings

Vintage Tibetan Coral and Turquoise Brass Clip-On Earrings

These belonged to quite a gal! Living up near the Wiskey A Go Go ~ in the infamous Hollywood Hills, she collected Asian antiquities. She wore her cool and unstuffy jewelry with her wild 1960's outfits. Her husband traveled to the far east and the house revealed the wonders of the far east.

Made of brass, turquoise and coral, they were clearly put together by hand. The Tibetans have often made their treasures with these elements. Buddha sits with a crown of brass, a familiar theme found in older pieces. Measures 1 5/8" high and 1 1/2" wide. Made in the 1930's to 1940's.

These are gorgeous, not perfect (thank Buddha!), clearly vintage and handmade, with an elegance not seen often with these types of earrings. Okay, they are clip-ons but what the heck? They can become something else, buckles, hook earrings, a necklace? They match a Tibetan box that I also have listed! A intriguingt piece of unusual costume jewelry for any fine collection.
