Bronze South East Asian Hindu God/Goddess Sculpture

Bronze South East Asian Hindu God/Goddess Sculpture

We at Hunter Gatherer are pleasantly curious as to the identity of the ornate and mysterious goddess or woman, a Indian Venus De Milo, on the front of this statue, but what we do happen to know is the identity of the 10 headed man on the opposite side. He is the Hindu god Ravana, portrayed as either a vengeful kidnapper or respectable king. The story behind the subjects of this piece is just as dramatic as its beauty and cultural significance.

This piece measures 10 1/2 inches length wise, 6 1/8 inches in height, and 2 1/4 inches in depth.

Additional information to come.

* We have recently found out, through consultation with an expert Asian bronze collector that this piece is from South India and is fairly new (50-100 years).
