Authentic Vintage Japanese Smoky Brown Ochre Green Short Kimono Haori Robe

Vintage from 1960s

This authentic Japanese short kimono is made of an unusual fabric that although it doesn't shimmer, has the quality of multi-jewel tones shimmering with the rays of light; soft brown, ochre and muted green that from far away appears to have the color of bronze. Subtle in it's beauty, there is one simple tie. It can be worn tied or open; with jeans, or dressed up with black slacks, skirt or even tuxedo pants. The potential for mixing and matching is endless.

This short kimono is known as Haori; a traditional Japanese sort of hip- or thigh-length kimono-like jacket, worn over a kosode. The haori does not close like the yukata, but is worn open or kept closed by a string that connects the lapels.

It measures 32" from should to hem. The back collar is 2 1/8". The sleeves measure 15 1/2" in length by 13" wide although the width from lapel to sleeve 24" each. Lined with a white cotton with thin, lavender criss crossing linear patterns.
